Janice Isabella Artemenko (nee Staple), wife of Eugene Artemenko of Yorkton, formerly of Calder, SK passed away suddenly on February 25, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was sixty eight years of age. Janice was born January 11, 1946 in Russell, MB to Sadie and Durrell Staple. On March 7, 1964 she married Eugene Artemenko of Calder, SK. They farmed in the Calder area from 1964-1991.They later moved to Yorkton in 2000 and retired in 2005. They raised four children; Barry, Dino, Lori (Brice Glagau) and Jeffrey (Coralee Kirstein). The great joy of her life were her grandchildren; Echo, Melissa, Levon, Brittany, Danica, Mason and Gavin and great granddaughter Nevaeh. She attended school in Roblin, MB. She continued her education with LPN training at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg and later with Medical Office Assistant training in Saskatoon, SK. She loved her time as Lifeline and volunteer co-ordinator for East Central Health District, Palliative Care committee and Sunshine Club Member as well as numerous volunteer positions. Janice considered these times as some of her happiest and rewarding time in her life. She is survived by her husband, Eugene; her children and grandchildren; her sister, Linda (Ed Dyck); brother, Brian Staple (Rosiland); her sister Patricia (Terry Stychyshyn) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, D.M. and Sadie Staple, her mother & father-in-law, Mary (nee Skrepnick) & Eli; her brother, Earl; grandaughter's, Adanna Janice and Ava Vanna. A visitation for family and friends was held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Jen Dresser of St. Andrew's United Church officiating. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by friends, Theresa Bauming, Harmony Bakke and Gayden Bakke. Joleen Cherland and Lawrence Kitz sang a duet "Lead Me Guide Me". Interment will follow in the Tummel Cemetery in the Tummel district of Manitoba. Janice requested in lieu of donations that people visit a lonely senior citizen, take them to lunch or call a lonely family member.
