Mrs. Jane Anderson of Yorkton, formerly of Endeavour, widow of Glen Anderson passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was eighty-three years of age. Jane Anderson (Smuk) was born on September4, 1930 at Yorkton to Alex and Mary (Korchinski) Smuk. She attended Smokeside School and Yorkton Collegiate. Following high school she began work with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Saskatoon and then as a legal secretary for a Law Firm in Saskatoon. On August 17, 1957 Jane married Glen Anderson at Grace United Church in Saskatoon. She continued her career as a legal secretary. Jane and Glen enjoyed the outdoors, taking many fishing trips in Northern Saskatchewan. They also enjoyed hunting (bear) in the Endeavour-Stenen area. In 1980 Jane and Glen retired to a "Hobby Farm" west of Endeavour. They spent 19 years enjoying this venture before retiring to Yorkton. Predeceased by her husband Glen Anderson in 2002; her parents Alex and Mary (Korchinski) Smuk; brother Leonard Smuk and sisters, Avril Smuk and Violet (Des) McCrystal. She is survived by a sister Anita (Otto) Hesse of Regina; brothers, Steve (Liz), Benny and Jerry of Ituna, Orest (Rebecca) of Yorkton; sister-in-law Wanda of Fort Qu'Appelle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant as the officiant. The organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" and sang "Shall We Gather at The River" as a solo. Gabe Marshall presented a eulogy. Honourary Bearers were Steve Smuk, Benny Smuk, Jerry Smuk, Orest Smuk, Otto Hesse, Milton McCrystal, Perry Exley, Robert Anderson, Glen Ieler and Terry Belof. Interment prayers were held at Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery, Hubbard district with Very Rev. Boris Kyba, C.Ss.R.officiating. The casket bearers were Jeff Smuk, Brandon Smuk, Brian Smuk, Andrew Smuk, Gabe Marshall and Michael Marshall. Memorials honouring Jane's life may be made to Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery Fund.
