WISETON - The village of Wiseton is in a state of recuperating, but it may have found a new home for what it lost last month.
The small community was the victim of a blazing fire on September 3 that claimed both its village and post office locations, which were housed in the same building.
It's been a turbulent time for both village officials and local residents as people had to quickly adjust to new operations for the time being, including picking up their mail in the neighboring village of Dinsmore and a postponement of Wiseton's municipal elections until early next year, but now there appears to be a possible solution to the issues currently being faced.
The Wiseton Lions Club is now accepting monetary donations on behalf of the Village with the goal of revamping Wiseton's former laundromat building into a new post office and village office for the community.
Cheque donations can be made out to the Wiseton Lions Club and mailed to Box 81 in Wiseton, postal code S0L3M0, or an e-transfer can be made online to [email protected].
For those looking for a charitable tax receipt, donations can also be made to the Village of Wiseton and mailed to Box 160, or an e-transfer online can be made to [email protected].
