Outlook takes first game in provincial series against Kindersley

Series begins between two fighting teams

OUTLOOK - It all came down to an overtime period to determine which roster would leave the ice with the advantage on Sunday night, March 20 at the Jim Kook Rec Plex in Outlook.

The hosting Outlook Ice Hawks were matched up against the Kindersley Klippers in the first game of the Provincial Senior 'B' Championship, and both rosters were soon fighting tooth and nail for possession of the puck and for the gameplay advantage.  In front of a full and raucous crowd, both teams displayed impressive skills and the momentum could've fallen either way on multiple occasions to give either team the winning advantage.

In the first period, the Klippers got on the board first to start things off, but Outlook would soon start to follow suit.  Logan Stephenson got the Hawks on the board first, followed by Kyle Ireland, and finally one by Jared Jagow as the first period came to a close.  Things stood at 5-3 in favor of Kindersley as the game headed into the second period.

A bit of a stalling period was had by the Klippers in the second, which gave the Ice Hawks time to catch up on the scoreboard.  Daniel Erlandson sunk one past Kindersley goalie Luke Sproule, followed up by Luke Nukwama scoring one to match things up on the scoreboard.  By the end of the second, the score was an even 5-5.

The third period would see both teams display some similar skills, which would result in pucks being soared into both teams' nets.  Outlook would manage to tie things up on their end after Kindersley racked up some points, and the third would end at a score of 8-8, taking this game into overtime.

It would be during that overtime period that Outlook would win after just under four minutes of gameplay.  The winning shot came from Beau Stewart, and the noise in the Rec Plex was deafening as it was realized that Outlook now had the advantage in the three-game series.

The Ice Hawks now move on to their second game against Kindersley, which takes place this Saturday night, March 26 on the Klippers' home ice.  The end result will either see Outlook win the Provincial 'B' Championship, or push things to Game 3 on Monday night, March 28 back in Outlook.
