OUTLOOK - A woman who calls the Outlook area home finds herself in the running for a special award later this spring.

Dana Johnson, who grew up in Broderick, works as a salon owner and stylist in Saskatoon at 11 Eleven Salon Company. Johnson learned recently that she is one of the finalists up for the Indigenous Entrepreneur Award at the 2025 WESK gala.

WESK stands for Women Entrepreneurs Saskatchewan, and puts a spotlight on deserving women who are making a difference out in the business world.

Johnson's nomination puts her up for the award that recognizes Indigenous business owners and specifically, recognizes "an Indigenous Saskatchewan woman who has built a strong and sustainable business concept with a clear vision for future growth and long-term success. She exemplifies a deep understanding of her market, competitors, and opportunities, paired with a steadfast commitment to her community."

The event provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding female entrepreneurs with one of six Entrepreneur Awards while also celebrating the achievements of all entrepreneurs in the province. This year's event marks WESK's 30th year since its inception in 1995.

The WESK Gala takes place on Saturday, May 17 at Darke Hall in Regina.
