LCBI hosts 45th girls basketball tournament in Outlook

The Home of the Bisons welcomed seven teams to its annual two-day basketball tournament.

OUTLOOK - Court action was heating up the gymnasium at LCBI High School in Outlook over the weekend as the Lady Bisons basketball team hosted their 45th annual invitational tournament.

Over Friday & Saturday, January 19 & 20, the school played host to seven teams in the event, welcoming the Assiniboia Rockets, Hague Panthers, Briercrest/Cornerstone Cougars of Moose Jaw, Kenaston Kodiaks, Hepburn Hawks, Winston Wildcats of Watrous, and the Unity Warriors to their home court.

The action got underway on Friday afternoon just after school as the Lady Bisons battled Hepburn in an incredibly even affair. Momentum swung back and forth between both rosters as the hometown fans in the stands let their cheers be heard. It came down to literally the final ten seconds when LCBI wound up with the ball, but unfortunately for the Lady Bisons, a victory wasn't in the cards and the Hawks took the victory at a razor-thin score of 51-49.

With that, LCBI found themselves matched against Kenaston on Saturday morning, and though they put in a solid effort, they once again found themselves upended as the Kodiaks took the win at a score of 52-37. The Lady Bisons ultimately wound up against the Panthers, taking the victory at a score of 47-20.

The final of the tournament saw the Winston Wildcats defeat the Cougars at a score of 61-47.

The Lady Bisons, coached by Samantha Ridgewell, are comprised of players Ayva Bidochka, Hallie Sincennes, Jane Wilson, Kaitlin Wright, Olivia Thompson, Olivia Hefner, Kate Wilson, Morgan Chabot, Rachel Brand, Cassidy Ireland, Sophia Haugen, Angel Sodhi, Summer Scot, and Camryn Nelson.
