OUTLOOK - The basketball court at LCBI in Outlook over January 13 and 14 was lit up something fierce as the school hosted the 44th annual Lady Bison tournament.
Welcoming teams from Unity, Briercrest Christian Academy, Herbert, Assiniboia, and Kenaston, the event kicked off on Friday after school as the hosting LCBI Lady Bisons took on Herbert, defeating them at a score of 70-19.
LCBI's momentum kept up the next day, as the Lady Bisons defeated the roster from Assiniboia at a score of 45-31. The win would secure the team's place in the final, played that afternoon, where LCBI found themselves matched up against the Unity Warriors.
The opposition showed their skillset and managed to get further ahead on the scoreboard, keeping the Lady Bisons at bay by maintaining a sizable lead in points. However, coming back for the second half, LCBI upped their game and started sinking rapid shots, making their way back up and nipping at the heels of the Warriors.
As time sped by and the crowd watched as the last remaining seconds ticked away, LCBI put forth a great effort, but the Unity Warriors were victorious and took 1st Place in the tournament, besting the Lady Bisons at a score of 42-34.
Proud of their accomplishment, the hometown team posed with family, fans and supporters for a big group shot to cap the tournament proceedings.
The Lady Bisons, coached by Samantha Ridgewell and Kira Berggren, are comprised of Hallie Sincennes, Jane Wilson, Kaitlin Wright, Olivia Thompson, Olivia Hefner, Kate Wilson, Morgan Chabot, Holly Nelson, Georgia Johnson, and Rachel Brand.
