Dinsmore hockey windup celebrates championship win

After a provincial title victory, the Dinsmore Dynamos were in celebration mode on a Saturday night.

DINSMORE - For all of those gathered in the AGT Memorial Arena in Dinsmore on Saturday, April 16, the goal of the night was only about one thing - celebration.

The Dinsmore Dynamos senior hockey team won the Provincial 'C' Championship in the series against Davidson on March 19, said to be the first provincial title for Dinsmore since 1972.

As the evening got underway, a number of awards were handed out to players and coaching staff. The award for Most Improved went to Mason Marchuk, while Top Scorer honors went to Brayden Uhrich. The Most Sportsmanlike Player award was handed to Steve DaSilva, while Parker Atkinson received the Rookie of the Year honors. The trophy for Outstanding Defenceman went to Josh Atkinson, while Brayden Atkinson received the Players Choice for Unselfish Service award. Finally, the team's coaching staff were recognized with an award, while Jeff Bosch received both the Fans Choice and MVP awards.

Speaking to those in attendance, Brayden Atkinson thanked the Dinsmore fans and all the family members who got the team to where they were, noting that it takes a lot more than just players on the ice for a team to reach any levels of success.

A special slideshow presentation was then shown, a video highlighting key moments throughout the season including the championship win, as well as many of the post-game celebrations. Following that, comedian John Beuhler then took to the stage to perform, bringing the laughs to the room for roughly 45 minutes.

As players, coaches, fans and the community all came together under one roof on this night, the feeling in the air was that, indeed, the feeling of victory by way of capturing the provincial trophy was perhaps the sweetest feeling of all.
