DAVIDSON - They shot and they scored.  They scored BIG.

With their win over the Davidson Cyclones on Saturday, March 19 on their opponent's home ice, the Dinsmore Dynamos captured the Provincial Senior 'C' Championship.

The Dynamos had previously bested rosters from Hanley and Rosthern to advance in the provincial series.

The journey to the provincial final saw the two rosters first square off in Davidson on Saturday night, March 12, which saw Dinsmore win in the second overtime period at a score of 4-3, proving right off the bat that this was going to be a series that both teams were going to fight tooth and nail for.  The second game between them took place on Friday night, March 18 when Dinsmore played host.  Once again, the game went past the regulation time and veered into overtime, and when the ice was settled, it was the Cyclones who left victorious at a score of 6-5.

All things led to the third and final game this past Saturday night in Davidson.  Knowing what was at stake, both rosters left it all out on the ice, but Dinsmore managed to forge ahead and maintain the lead on the scoreclock.  As the minutes ticked down, it was starting to become clear what the final result was going to be, and finally, when the buzzer sounded and all was said and done, the Dinsmore Dynamos were provincial champs after winning at a score of 6-3.

Top scorers from the winning team included #17 Matt Jones, who scored twice for the Dynamos.  Also scoring were #22 Josh Uhrich, #18 Steve DaSilva, and #6 Benson Thorpe.

Following the championship victory, the Dynamos posted the following to their Facebook page, thanking the fans for their support throughout the season.

"Every great SVHL team always starts with great local players and grows from that.  This is just the beginning.  From the first time we hit the ice our fans have stood behind us.  Senior hockey hits a little different knowing you have people in your corner.  The Dynamos would like to thank all our fans, from 1 mile away to 100 miles away.  We know we draw people from a great distance, and appreciate everyone’s support."

A championship windup event is being planned for Saturday night, April 16 at the Dinsmore community hall, which will see awards handed out and comedian John Beuhler perform.
