Canada Votes '25: Election heating up quickly, local names known in Outlook & area

OUTLOOK - With just under three weeks to go until Canadians return to the polls on Monday, April 28 for the 2025 federal election, things are heating up quickly on all political fronts.

The deadline for candidates to get their names officially into the running for this year's election was Monday, April 7. Information shared below reflects what was available on Monday morning.

Among the changes that local voters on the west side of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan River will see in the 2025 'Race for Ottawa' is the district of Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley, which saw a renaming and a rezoning to include a number of local communities. This riding includes the nearby communities of Conquest, Dinsmore, Macrorie, Lucky Lake, Beechy, Milden, Elrose and Rosetown.

Meanwhile, on the east side of the river, the riding of Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan includes the local communities of Outlook, Loreburn, Elbow, Dundurn, Hanley, Riverhurst and Central Butte.

Candidates listed for the Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley riding, as of April 7, include William Caton (Liberal), Alex McPhee (NDP), and Jeremy Patzer (Conservative).

Candidates listed for the Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan riding, as of April 7, include Fraser Tolmie (Conservative), Britt Baumann (NDP), Chey Craik (PPC), Tabitha Mukamusoni (Liberal), and Mike Gardiner (Green).
