Resident is critical of health situation in Preeceville

One couple was living in a house on their farm. One day the wife had seen a mouse running into a hole. She was terrified of it so she told her husband. He said, “We’ll fix her.” So he set a mousetrap near the hole. The mouse saw the trap and got scared. She thought she would go and ask the cow for advice but the cow said, “It’s none of my concern. It’s no skin of my nose!”

Then she went to the pig to ask her what to do. The pig said, “I’m so sorry, but I’ll pray for you.” Then she went to the rooster to complain, but the rooster just laughed it off crowing, “Cock-a-doodle-do-too good for you.” The mouse went away distraught and worried.

That night the trap snapped shut. The wife in her bare feet went to see what was caught, expecting to find a mouse, but to her surprise it was a snake caught by her tail. The snake raised her head and bit the wife in her leg. She started feeling sick so the husband thought he would make her some chicken soup so he had to kill the rooster for the soup. The neighbours heard about the sick wife and came over in numbers to visit her. The husband needed more meat to feed them so he had to butcher the pig.

As time went on her condition worsened and eventually she passed away. The husband had to have a funeral for her, so now he had to butcher the cow to feed the crowd; a sad story of events.

A joke is a joke but the situation we have here with no emergency service at the Preeceville Hospital is no joke.

Does this story not remind you of some people? You can tell them the true facts about a situation but as long as it does not affect them directly, they will turn up their noses or say, “Well, it’s not up to me. Let someone else do something about it.”  Or “I’m scared to say something,” but they have  no problem complaining at the local coffee shop where the stories get bigger and nothing is solved. You would be surprised how smart everyone is talking there.

We are here to help each other. I believe in the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Love your neighbor as yourself.” All of us have it coming when we may need help, especially if we get sick or hurt. In the old days there were no phones but neighbours would make a point of going to visit their neighbours to see if everything was alright or if they might need help with something.

Everybody acts so very independent while they are able but when the shoe is on the other foot, oh how tragic. They then start thinking about it.

I agree with Stacey Strykowski’s letter to the editor last week 100 per cent. It is heart wrenching to say the least. I will stand with her and I commend her for her efforts. We will keep barking up the tree until the higher uppers will come down and meet with us face to face. It’s high time this situation was resolved. We all thought that there was a mouse in the Sunrise Health Region but now we realize that it is snake. It’s a deadly situation that we have!

Thank you kindly.
