The Yorkton Sherring Gold Terrier Pee Wee hockey team played a lot of hockey last weekend.
Three games in three days translated into at least two wins; both wins saw them limit their opponents to three goals.
Back on Friday evening, Yorkton opened up their provincial series against Prince Albert.
Five second-period goals by Yorkton contributed to a 9-3 win.
Yorkton head coach Ed Zawatsky said the score of the game makes Prince Albert look worse than they actually did that night.
"We got down 2-0" early in the first period, he said.
"PA came to play. We came back to tie it in the second (period). All the kids contributed."
Logan Foster scored three times, Kaeden Taphorn had two, singles were scored by Tyler Stratechuk, Alec Zawatsky, Keenan Taphorn and McKenzie Welke.
The Terriers got their St. Patrick's Day celebrations started as they doubled up their Moose Jaw opponents by a 6-3 count.
Zawatsky again credited the visitors.
"Moose Jaw played their hearts out," he insisted.
For most of the game, it appeared it could be headed for overtime but Yorkton waited until the third period to do most of their damage. Until then, however, it was a one-goal game.
Foster opened the scoring early in the first period but Moose Jaw answered back with two goals.
McKenzie Welke and Cody Dubas answered those goals.
Carson Welke and McKenzie Welke combined to score the last 3 Yorkton goals; Carson tallied twice and McKenzie with 1.
"You win the third (period), you win the game," observed Zawatsky after the comeback win.
Zawatsky noted that after going from a goal total series against Prince Albert, the Moose Jaw series is a best-of-3 series.
