The Yorkton Yorkers dropped two games in Saskatchewan Cricket League (SCL) ODP play on the weekend.
On Saturday, the Yorkers went head-to-head with a tough Tigers team coming within 25 runs of overtaking a strong 227 30-over total by the Regina squad.
Yorkers captain Faisal Anwar was for the most part pleased with the effort, but blamed the loss on loose bowling, particularly wide balls, which accounted for 42 Tiger runs.
"We should have won that game, but we gave too many extras," he said.
Still it was a good outing for the fledgling team from Yorkton.
On Sunday, they would not do so well against the Cavaliers as they took the field two men short and tired from two days of travel.
Yorkton's opening batsman, Harman Grewal, made a valiant effort in the crease scoring 22 runs, but no one else was able to get anything going. Wicket after wicket fell leaving Yorkton all out just 19 overs into the 40-over contest.
Defending a meek 51-run total would prove impossible for the depleted nine-player roster as the Cavs made short work of the chase putting up 53 runs in just 10 overs.
Meanwhile, in the shorter format T-20 playoffs, the Stallions (Regina) and Warriors (Saskatoon) contested the championship game with the Stallions coming out on top.
The Warriors batted first putting up a good total of 148-all out in their full 20 overs.
In the second innings, Stallions batsman C Singh jumped all over the Warriors bowlers, however, almost single-handedly chasing down the Saskatoon squad's score in just 14.4 overs with 115 runs on 53 balls, which included 13 maximums and five boundaries.
In the end it was the Stallions' title by eight wickets.
