The Yorkton Yankees and Willowbrook Royals get set to set things on the baseball diamond one more time starting tonight, weather permitting.
The same two clubs went at it last year in the championship final of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Senior Baseball League.
Yorkton won last year's final in three straight games. Both rosters have seen changes since last year's final, including the Nesbitt brothers who will all be dressing for the Royals.
"We picked up the three Nesbitts," quotes Jeremy Hrebenik, player/coach for the Willowbrook Royals, when asked about the differences between this year's Royals and the team that dressed for the final last year.
"I think so, a little bit," he responds when asked if it could work to their advantage in this series.
Hrebenik said Tyson Nesbitt has gone from pitching duties to first base, while brothers Tanner and Travis will look after things on the mound.
"One of them played for Brian Trollope," coach of the Yorkton Yankees, advises Hrebenik, suggesting that it may come into play at some point during the finals series.
The two clubs finished this year's regular season almost neck and neck. Yorkton claimed first place in the eight-team league while the Royals were the only team that finished anywhere near them.
Yorkton finished with 25 points and Willowbrook with 24 points, both played 14 games throughout the season.
They were also the only teams in the league anywhere near 100 runs scored.
Hrebenik says that high scoring trend could continue into the finals matchup.
"I'd like to say it will be lots of offence," before adding "we have a good defence.
The teams met on July 3 in Willowbrook which went the Royals' way, an 11-4 victory.
The previous meeting on June 27 in Yorkton ended up being a much closer 5-4 Yankee win.
