U13 Rosebud Royals head to provincials on weekend

The Rosebud Royals set out with a goal of making the Canadian Western Championships in Prince Albert where Saskatchewan was set to have three teams as host province, but with B.C. and Alberta deciding to not send teams to Westerns that has now been cancelled.

The Royals U13 League team that competed in the final weekend of the Saskatchewan Rawlings Grand Slam Boys Fastball League this past weekend at North Shore and Leslie Beach Fishing Lake.

WADENA - The U13 version of the Rosebud Royals (Wadena) are headed to Delisle, Sask. this weekend for provincial play.

The Royals are set to play Valley (Laird area) Friday at 12:00 p.m. and Prince Albert at 6:30 p.m. then Saskatoon’s ‘A’ team Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and Delisle’s ‘A’ team at 2:00 p.m. to complete their schedule for round robin play. 

The top three teams make the playoffs Sunday.

So this weekend’s provincials will be the Royals’ last tournament of the year. Other eastern Saskatchewan participants at the U13 boys level this year include the Ituna Blue Jays, Okanese Thunderstrikers, and Ochapowace Loudvoice who have all entered ‘B’ Provincials also in Delisle this weekend. The Royals are co-hosting a ‘try softball’ day for any other boys that are interested in joining the Rosebud Royals program for 2023, in addition to more recreational games for all ages, boys and girls that want to try the game out. The “Try Fastball Games” are at North Shore Fishing Lake Aug. 20, and Scott Comfort is the contact at 306-338-9632.
