Six men’s curling teams arrived at the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack November 24 to play draw number three in the Duck Mountain Super League.

Randy Trofimenkoff, sponsored by Nykolaishen Farm Equipment, gained a tie for first place by beating Rick Kinaschuk of Benito in five ends. Trofimenkoff, curling with Jim Wright, Doug Elsasser and Richard Jordens, now has two wins and one loss.

His rink was tied with Fred Perepiolkin.

Perepiolkin kept it close for six ends with Terry Dennis of Canora, but gave up four points on the seventh end and called it quits. Dennis, sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds, now has one win heading into draw number four.

Ken Newell of Norquay, backed by Challoner Farms Inc., played a full eight-end game against Don Bowes of Kamsack. Bowes, representing Cottenie and Gardner Inc., was one down coming home without hammer. His final stone cleared a narrow port, but failed to stop in the four-foot ring, giving Newell his first round-robin victory.

Games scheduled for draw number 4 in Kamsack on Tuesday were to have Trofimenkoff curl Dennis, Newell go against Perepiolkin and Bowes face Hrycenko.

Duck Mountain Super League curling shifts from Kamsack to Norquay on December 8. The games will be broadcast on Access Cable TV, so persons not able to visit Norquay that evening, may tune in.
