It only took about an hour and a half or so but I did get it done.
I needed some non-verbal assistance in writing one of these things so I consulted with each of the last two editors who held this job.
And I still didn't find much.
I didn't even know where to start for something like this.
One of the things that I am going to miss about Yorkton is seeing teams called the Icewolves and Millionaires come to play hockey.
When I knew it was time to start putting this together, the only inspiration I could come up with is to see what someone else did. Each of the last two sports editors here put one together.

I saw myself a long time ago writing enough to fill not just half a page but more like an entire sports section. There are a bunch of things I am going to miss: the hockey, the football, the occasional late-Saturday afternoon volleyball finals at the Regional.
By the time that the next one starts (Dion Pfeifer and his senior boys volleyball team at the YRHS are hosting their annual home tournament this weekend, when it's underway, I will be partaking on the same road trip that brought me out here in the first place, just over four years ago. The trip will have stops in Winnipeg and then several through the northern states of the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, all the way east to Michigan before it is time to cross the border back into Ontario.
What I will remember most about Yorkton are the events that not everybody gets a chance to get out and cover. The biggest one in my mind was the Yorkton bid to win the Riderville contest. Allthough nobody was thrilled with the end result, there hasn't been much in the past four years that compares to what happens when locals get together to celebrate something to do with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Much like the fun we had the night of the Rider Prider vs. Yorkton Minor Football Hockey fundraiser Jan. 21 at the Kinsmen Arena. The Riderville contest was good because it ran for nearly five days and a lot of people had a lot of fun that week.
On the hockey side of things, the SJHL Terriers provided more energy and excitement than anybody every saw coming, for two years in a row. Game 6 of the finals the first time we played the Icewolves was one of the best moments over the past four years.
The same two teams met up again the following year in the finals and it needed a seventh game to decide.
