The Yorkton Terriers were on the road for a trio of games this week, taking a pair in Kindersley, but then dropping the final game of the three to Battlefords, the last place team in the Bauer Division of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League heading into the contest.

The week's work leaves the Terriers in second place in the Sherwood Conference with a 12-5-0-1 record and 25 points, two back on Melville who now also hold a game in-hand on the Terriers.

Notre Dame sits third with 20 points, followed by Estevan and Kindersley, each with 14, and Weyburn with 10.

Sunday the Terriers were in Battlefords taking on the Stars.

The teams traded first period markers, Derek Falloon for Yorkton and Austin Evans for the home side.

Evans was back with a goal in the second, and effort matched by Terrier Tyler Giebel, sending the teams to the third period knotted 2-2.

Giebel and Nathan Murray would score for Yorkton in the third, but the Stars would prevail 6-4 on goals by Justin Waskewitch, Spencer Gosselin, Brandon Long and Josh Betinol, the final goal into an empty net.

Conor Barrie took the loss in the Terrier nets facing 35 shots, 11 of those in the four-goal final frame.

Connor Creech faced 30 shots, including 18 in the third period to take the win for Battlefords.

Friday it was all Terriers after an early first period goal by Klipper Connor Gay.

It would be the only shot among 25 to elude Dawson MacAuley in the Terrier nets.

Meanwhile Patrick Martens would tie the score for Yorkton with an unassisted marker, and Curtis Oliver would score what would be the eventual game winner last in the frame to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.

Daylan Gatzke would add one for Yorkton with the only goal of the second period.

Brady Norrish, Brenden Poncelet, Zak Majkowski, and Gatzke with his second would add third period goals in the 7-1 win.

Former Terrier Warren Shymko was in net for the Klippers facing 29 shots.

A night later the two teams again hooked up in Kindersley, with both offences firing.

Tyler Giebel and Gatzke scored for Yorkton in the first period, with Kyle Davies and Gay replying for the home team.

In the second Derek Falloon, Gatzke and Giebel, each with their second of the night scored for the Terriers with Cody McKinnon adding one for the Klippers to leave the score 5-3 after 40-minutes in favour of the visitors.

Giovanni Bombini would score two unanswered third period goals for the home team to knot the score 5-5 and push the game to overtime.

The five-minute, four-on-four extra frame proved nothing, sending the game to the shoot-out.

It would require six shooters a side before Makjowki's marker gave the Terriers a 6-5 win.

MacAuley was again in the Terrier net facing 27-shots in the win.

Tyrell King took 38-shots in the eventual loss for Kindersley.

Last Tuesday at home

Estevan visited the Farrell Agencies Arena last week, and after 20-minutes the visitors held a 2-1 lead based on goals by Hudson Morrison and Austin Daae.

Martens responded for the home team.

Tyler Paslawski and Morrison scored unanswered second period markers to extend the Bruin lead to 4-1.

Jeremy Johnson and Giebel put two on the board in the third period for Yorkton, but Darcy DeRoose scored for Estevan to make the final score 5-3 in favour of the Bruins.

Kale Thomson was in the Terrier net to face 26-shots in the loss, while Curtis Martinu faced 34 in the Bruin nets.

Friday the Terriers travel to Humboldt.

Next Tuesday Yorkton heads north to face Flin Flon, then play in LaRonge next Wednesday.
