After two straight disappointing defeats, the Canora Supers responded with a pair of important victories in 麻豆传媒AVeast Senior Baseball League (SESBL) action.

The Supers were scheduled to play home games on June 1 and 2 against the Back Forty Brewers and Grandview Lakers, but unfortunately both were rained out, said Greg Andreychuk, player/manager.

鈥淲ith the Lakers already set to play in Yorkton on June 3 at 2 p.m. against the Yankees, it was agreed that the Supers would play the Lakers in Yorkton later in the day at 5 p.m.,鈥 said Andreychuk. 鈥淚t was a decision our team would not regret as the Supers held on for a 6-4 victory.鈥

Kholton Shewchuk went the distance on the mound, with 11 strikeouts during his complete game win. He allowed five hits, five walks, and four runs, but only two were earned.

With a 6-2 lead going into the top of the seventh and final inning, Shewchuk retired the first two batters of the inning.

鈥淎 furious two out rally netted the Lakers two runs with the bases loaded,鈥 said Andreychuk. 鈥淏ut Shewchuk recorded the final out via a strikeout to get out of a real pickle.鈥

Offensively the Supers recorded six runs on seven hits and seven walks. Shewchuk and Sean Kolodziejski each had two hits to lead the way. Evan Rostotski blasted a triple, while Clint Maduck and Dylan Toffan each contributed a single. The Supers made the most of their opportunities, scoring several runs on wild pitches during the game.

The Supers took on the Yorkton Orioles on May 30 at Jubilee Park in Yorkton.

Although Supers starting pitcher Derek Palagian gave up eleven hits, he was able to strand most of the Oriole baserunners while striking out eight and walking only one en route to a complete game 7-2 victory, said Andreychuk.

The Supers hitters had nine hits of their own. Palagian, Terry Cumming and Ian Quewezance banged out two hits each, while Andreychuk, Evan Rostotski, and Darcy Blommaert chipped in with one hit apiece.

The offence applied consistent pressure and scored one run in the second inning, two in the third, one in the fourth and three in the sixth to supply plenty of run support. Defence played a key role in the victory.

鈥淪hortstop Ian Quewezance led the way with a couple great plays to keep the Orioles off the scoreboard as he continues to play well in the field,鈥 said Andreychuk.

The two straight wins improve the Supers鈥 record to four wins and three losses on the season.聽
