Sturgis senior boys off to provincial volleyball championship

The Sturgis Composite School senior boys volleyball team exceeded its dreams when the team won second place at regional play in Tisdale on November 17 and 18. Sturgis will advance to provincials that will be held in Humboldt on November 24 and 25.
Off to provincials
The Sturgis Composite School senior boys volleyball team placed second at the regional competition that was held in Tisdale on November 17 and18 to advance to provincials in Humboldt on November 24 and 25. Team members are comprised of players from Sturgis and Norquay. On the team, from left, are: (back row) Cole Rubletz, Cole Kowalchuk, Kipp Bayer (coach) and JR Puyos; (middle) Kurtis Gerbrandt, Jayden Heskin, Garrett Bazuik and Zane Bayer, and (front) Austin Auchstaetter, Cody Heskin, Seth Rayner and Salem Johnson.             The Sturgis Composite School senior boys volleyball team exceeded its dreams when the team won second place at regional play in Tisdale on November 17 and 18.

            Sturgis will advance to provincials that will be held in Humboldt on November 24 and 25.

            The team is comprised of players from Sturgis and Norquay. Sturgis players are: Cole Rubletz, Cole Kowalchuk, JR Puyos, Kurtis Gerbrandt, Garrett Bazuik, Seth Rayner, Bo Babiuk, Jalen Bayer and Dean Terrenal. Salem Johnson and Zane Bayer Norquay players are:Jayden Heskin, Austin Auchstetter and Cody Heskin,           

            Kipp and Jennifer Bayer are co-coaches.

            Sturgis defeated Tisdale, Yorkton Sacred Heart and Keethanow but were defeated by Melfort to finish in second place.

            "The boys have worked hard and their dedication has paid off," said Kipp Bayer, coach.

            While the Sturgis School gymnasium is under renovation the team practices every Tuesday and Wednesday with practices held in Norquay and Preeceville.
