The YRHS football teams have both advanced to the next round of the playoffs. The juniors team has won two straight games and are scheduled to meet the Raiders next on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m., at Liebel Field. The senior team at YRHS will be leaving on the weekend for Gutheridge Field in Moose Jaw for the high school league championship.
Sacred Heart High School will be hosting a mini-tournament on Oct. 30 (next Tuesday) that will involve another matchup between the senior Saints and the Yorkton Regional High School senior team, says Perry Enns, coach of the Saints. It will be one last chance for Sacred Heart to get in some practice time before conference play. Conference games are scheduled for Nov. 2-3. The YRHS senior team is heading to Weyburn this weekend.
The Yorkton Terriers are in first place in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Yorkton knocked off Flin Flon who was undefeated coming into Yorkton and lost, 4-2. Next up for the Terriers is a pair of road games this week that will bring them to Kindersley and the Battlefords on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Terriers return home on Saturday to take on Nipawin and will end the month on Oct. 30 when they host the Estevan Bruins. Both games are at the FAA.
The Yorkton Harvest played on the road for the first time this season as they headed to Tisdale for a game this past Saturday, losing in overtime to the Trojans. Their next game is in Gull Lake when they play the Beardy's Blackhawks on Oct. 27.
The 14th Annual Prairie Wildfire TaeKwonDo Challenge is scheduled for Oct. 27 at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton. It is a day-long event involving TKD students from Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario as well as North Dakota.
