The national championships of men's amateur golf was held this year in Cumberland, Ont., and involved almost 250 of the country's top amateur golfers. Among them was Matthew Procyshen of Yorkton. Procyshen grew up in Yorkton, attended Sacred Heart High School and is currently playing golf in the NCAA. Procyshen qualified when he made the cut following the Saskatchewan amateur tournament which was held earlier this month at Deer Park. At Cumberland, golfers played through two courses, the Camelot Golf and Country Club and the Club de golf Outaouais. Procyshen said things got interesting when the play was halted due to rain and then again due to darkness. Check Yorkton This Week in September for a full wrapup of the event happenings. Procyshen wishes to send a 'thank you' out to everybody who has helped him out along the way.
