The 2012 Yorkton Farrell Agencies/Ottenbreit Sanitation Initiation tournament will be held at the Farrell Agencies Arena and Kinsmen Arena on March 3-4, 2012.

Over 200 players representing 16 teams will be attending this years event - including 6 Yorkton Initiation teams. The Yorkton Tim Horton's Terriers, Cappuccinos, Fritters, Double Doubles, Smoothies and Iced Capps will begin to wind down their hockey season with at this year's event.

Ryan Hoffman, who coaches the Tim Hortons Terriers said the tournament is all about kids having fun.

"This year in Yorkton, with 11 players per team, there is lots of ice time to go around for everyone. As far as the winning and losing goes, we work all year to develop the kids and help them progress, and the winning is secondary for sure."

Other teams attending the tournament include Esterhazy, Langenburg, Moosomin, Russell, Roblin, Wynyard and Â鶹´«Ã½AVey.

The tournament features 28 games in total - each team is guaranteed at least three games. The A, B, C and D finals wrap up the tourney on Sunday afternoon, he said.

"Personally, as someone who is known to be competitive from time to time, it is interesting to see though, how our kids look and are developing in relation to kids from other communities," says Hoffman.

The Yorkton business community has overwhelmed the tournament committee with its generosity yet again, guaranteeing another fantastic Yorkton Initiation Tournament weekend, Hoffman adds.

He said it should be a good weekend.

"I know everyone says this every year 'we have a great group of coaches,' but this year we have a group of coaches that are a good blend of new coaches with a number of coaches that have a lot of experience at a number of different levels.

The coaches have really collaborated, teams work together with their practices and player development, and I think that results in better instruction and overall experience for the kids."
