The Sacred Heart April Male Athlete of the Month is a multi-sport, Gr. 11 student. He was an integral part of the provincial champion boy's soccer team, playing at the midfield position. He also has played on the boy's volleyball team and is a member of the cross country team. He just completed the boys' badminton season. He captured gold medals in tournament play in Melville with partner Mark Kuemper and in Canora with Travis Inglis. For the city championship, he teamed up with Dylan Johnson where they played some tough matches narrowly missing the opportunity to attend Districts. This athlete has improved tremendously over the season and has become one of the top players on the badminton team. He is very dedicated and shows the desire to improve his shots by working hard at practice. He has a positive attitude and keeps his cool on the court. The female athlete of the month for April is a Grade 12 athlete and she is also a multi-sport athlete. She has played on the girls' volleyball team, the curling team, the golf team and is currently playing badminton. Playing ladies singles, she captured gold medals in tournament play in Melville and at our York City home tournament. She has gone on to win the city championship and is now she is the East Central District Champion. Her season came to somewhat of a crushing blow at regionals about a month ago when she took the eventual winner to a third and deciding set. She is a very hard-working, dedicated and coachable athlete and tries hard to do what is asked of her. She has a positive attitude and is encouraging to other players. The April Female Athlete of the Month is Kylie Chupa
