The Yorkton Sherring Gold Pee Wee Terriers showed why they are the class of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Sask. Minor Hockey League over the weekend, destroying the visiting Estevan Sherritt Coal Bruins 17-3 on Saturday and 7-1 on Sunday at the Kinsmen Arena.
Goals were fast and furious on Saturday night at the Kinsmen Arena. Yorkton's Troy Bryksa and Zach McIntyre each had a four goal performance for the Terriers while Aiden Bulych also joined the hat-trick parade notching his 10th, 11th and 12th goals of the season in addition to picking up three assists in the Sherring Gold Terriers 17-3 drubbing of the visiting Bruins. Ethan Evanovich and Jackson Berezowski also chipped in with two goals apiece while Kaeden Korczak and Chace Sperling each picked up a goal respectively. Kishaun Gervais, younger brother of SJHL Terrier Kailum Gervais, led all Sherring Gold Terriers with seven assists on the night.
When a team dominates another team like the Pee Wee Terriers did to the Bruins on Saturday it's easy for the winning team to overlook that same team the next time you have to play them. Sherring Gold Terriers Head Coach Chad Korczak recognized this and told his players not to underestimate their opponents because anything can happen when you play the game. "I told the boys (and girl) that it's a new day, a new game and you got to be prepared no matter who it is and play hard as it's a new game," said Korczak.
Korczak also mentioned how when you beat a team 17-3 one night, players tend to get a little selfish the next game, something he had discussed with his players before Sunday's 7-1 victory over the same Bruins squad. "Saturday night we beat them 17-3 so sometimes when it gets to be that kind of score you see that some kids sometimes tend to get a little selfish and think about points. So when that happens we try to keep them on track and teach them that we need all 16 players to play as a team."
His club showed that they were indeed listening to their coach, playing a complete team game that resulted in a 7-1 victory in which teammates stepped up for one another when some Estevan players tried to take matters into their own hands by running Yorkton players into the boards; something that is no longer legal in Pee Wee hockey. "There's usually not a lot of rubbing out and stuff anymore due to the rule changes but when other teams take liberties on your players it makes you feel good that everybody's willing to step up and protect whoever it is," said a smiling Korczak. "It shows that this team is very close and will do anything to help each other out."

The Yorkton Sherring Gold Pee Wee Terriers have just one game remaining before the Christmas break begins. That game will take place at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville against the Melville Pee Wee Millionaires on Saturday December 21 at 12:30 p.m.
