SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Blades earned three out of a possible four points on the weekend. With a 6-5 OT loss to Prince Albert and a 3-1 win over the same Prince Albert Raiders, the Saskatoon squad enters this week with a 38-13-4-1. They are third in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.

The Blades fell 6-5 in overtime at home to the Prince Albert Raiders on Feb. 24. The Raiders came back from trailing 4-1 early in the third period to win. The teams traded goals and then the Raiders scored four straight goals to end the game. Sloan Stanick delivered the winning goal in OT.

Scoring for the Blades were Jake Chiasson (two), Brandon Lisowsky, Vaughn Watterodt, and Aidan De La Gorgendiere. Austin Elliott made 22 saves for Saskatoon. The Raiders were 3-for-8 on the power play. With the man advantage, Saskatoon was 2-for-5.

The Blades roared out of the gates on Saturday night in Prince Albert with three goals. That was enough offence as they went on to win 3-1.

Jayden Wiens got things started with a power play goal. Lisowsky made it 2-0 and then Chiasson scored with the man advantage to increase the lead to 3-0. The Raiders did not score until the third. Ethan Chadwick stopped all but one of the 25 shots that came his way.

The Blades host three home games this week before heading to Regina on Sunday. The Red Deer Rebels visit Wednesday. The Moose Jaw Warriors are in town on Friday with the Lethbridge Hurricanes coming Saturday.
