Saskatoon Blades defeat Calgary Hitmen 4-2

SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Blades prevailed in their lone game last week – beating the Calgary Hitmen, 4-2, on Sunday in front of 3,352. The victory improved Saskatoon’s record to 6-2-0-0.

The Blades sat fourth in the Western Hockey League Eastern Division with 12 points, one behind Regina.

After the Hitmen opened the scoring on Oct. 16, the Blades scored three goals. Brandon Lisowsky lit the lamp for back-to-back Blades’ markers and Jordan Keller scored the third, which turned out to the game winner. The contest was tied 1-1 at the first intermission and Saskatoon led 3-2 at the second. For the Blades, Josh Pillar scored the lone goal of the third period.

Austin Elliott stopped 26 shots for Saskatoon. Calgary’s Ethan Buenaventura had 26 saves.

The Blades visit Lethbridge on Wednesday. On Friday the team is in Calgary and then Edmonton on Sunday.

As of Sunday, the Blades’ Egor Sidorov was tied for second in the WHL with three game-winning goals. Sidorov led the team with 11 points and seven goals.
