Team Saskatchewan dominated from start to finish at the Under-16 Red River Cup held in Winnipeg in early July.
Yorkton Minor Football had three players make the 40 person roster composed of athletes from across the province competing in the national tournament.
The team came home with the title after playing three games in one week.
"They had a great tournament and all three kids contributed in all games to help bring the cup to Saskatchewan for the first time", stated Mike Jarvis.
Jarvis took time to travel with his son Brayden to Winnipeg to take part in the tournament.
Mike Jarvis' son - Brayden Jarvis, Zack Kais and Jon Muir all made the cut to play for Team Sask.
Muir and Jarvis were part of a defence that only allowed two touchdowns through the whole tournament and in the gold medal game allowed 130 yards of total offence.
The players bonded quickly as they stayed in dormitories and practiced in Winnipeg before the tournament began on July 7.
The Winnipeg teams come together three months prior to the tournament to practice, something Team Sask didn't have a chance for because of the late decision to enter a team.
"This is the first year that Saskatchewan decided to enter a team in the tournament," said Jarvis.
"It was a great experience for these players."
These three players are bringing their refined skills back to Yorkton where they will be playing with the YRHS Raider Gridder Senior squad this upcoming season.
Team Saskatchewan won their three games by a combined score of 112-14. Yorkton Minor Football was happy to donate $200 to each player to help alleviate the travel costs associated with making the team.
