Preeceville School athletes have huge attendance at pre-districts meet

Preeceville School was represented by 40 athletes who exceeded all expectations at the pre-district track-and-field meet in Yorkton on May 17. "I am so very proud of the athletes and what they accomplished," said Cary Franklin, coach.

Forty Preeceville School athletes participated in the pre-districts track meet held in Yorkton on May 17. Thirty of the athletes advanced to the district meet on May 24 and 25 in Yorkton.

            Preeceville School was represented by 40 athletes who exceeded all expectations at the pre-district track-and-field meet in Yorkton on May 17.

            "I am so very proud of the athletes and what they accomplished," said Cary Franklin, coach. "They all showed a lot of dedication and great sportsmanship. We had 30 of the students who advanced to the district meet held May 24 and 25.â€

            Rachel Pankratz placed third in the girls 80-metre hurdles junior level. Pankratz also placed first in girls long jump, triple jump and javelin,

            In the midget girls category, high jump, Angelina Sorgen placed first and Kelsey Daschuk placed third. Sorgen also placed fourth in long jump and second in discus. Daschuk placed first in long jump, triple jump and discus. Morgan Mitchell and Kirsten Murray also participated in the triple jump and shot put. Murray placed third in discus and fifth in javelin.

            In the girls bantam category, Makenna Petryshyn placed second in 100-metre dash, shot put and javelin. Petryshyn also placed first in discus. Skylar German placed second on triple jump. Janhia Irlandez and German also participated in the 100-metre dash and long jump. Almina Kovcic placed second in the 200-metre dash. German also placed second in the high jump and triple jump. Morgan Mclean placed first in shot put and second in discus. Mclean and Kovcic participated in the long jump.

            In the girls peewee category, Kiera Balyski, Chloe Chornomitz, Kate Covlin and Hannah Kidder all participated in the 100-metre dash, long jump and 200-metre dash. Chornomitz did not participate in the 200-metre dash. Kidder also participated in the high jump event. Balyski and Chornomitz each participated in the triple jump. Covlin placed third in the shot put. Chornomitz also participated in the shot put.

            In the boys senior category, Braydon Walker participated in the 100-metre dash. Spencer King placed first in the 1,500-metre and second in the 3,000-metre dash. King also placed second in the triple jump and forth in javelin. Jaden Petryshyn placed first in high jump and third in long jump. Brandon Dyky also placed second in the triple jump and participated in the long jump. Michael Pidherny, Connor Novak, Walker and Petrysyhn also participated in the shot put and discus. King, Pidherny and Novak also took part in the javelin event.

            In the boys junior category, Sean Paligan placed first in 400-metre, 100-metre and long jump. Kristan Javelona placed forth in shot put, first in discus and second in javelin.

            In the midget category, Willen Paligan placed first in 100-metre dash, high jump, javelin and long jump. Zac Larson placed first in shot put, second in javelin. Agam Sigh placed third in shot put and participated in the javelin and discus.

            In the bantam category, Dylan Wiwcharuk placed first in 100-metre dash and 200-metre and second in high jump. Christian Acosta placed second in the 100-metre and first in long jump and javelin. Ben Larson and Eric Prestie also participated in the 100-metre dash. Ryan Young placed second in 200-metre dash and first in the high jump. Dweight Paligan and Larson also took part in the 200-metre dash. Todd Pankratz placed first in the 1,500-metre dash and second in the 3,000-metre. Erik Sanadger placed second in the 800-metre dash and third in high jump and second in triple jump. Eli Kashuba placed second in the 1,500-metre dash and first in the 3,000-metre dash. Jesse Prestie placed third in shot put and second in javelin.

            In the peewee category, Lexluv Acosta, Caden Worobetz and Ian Erickson all participated in events.

            In a quad event, which is an event that includes the 800-metre and 100-metre races, shot put and long jump, Jake Huska placed first in the junior boys category.
