Preeceville junior girls win gold at Canora volleyball tournament

The Preeceville Panthers junior girls volleyball team toppled all its opponents with no losses recorded throughout an entire tournament in Canora on September 29 and 30.

            The Preeceville Panthers junior girls volleyball team toppled all its opponents with no losses recorded throughout an entire tournament in Canora on September 29 and 30.

            There were 10 teams entered  in the tournament: Invermay, Canora A and Canora B, Sturgis, Preeceville, Kamsack, Melville, Churchbridge, Yorkton and Keesekoose First Nation.

            In Preeceville's first game the team defeated the Canora B team, in both sets 25 to 13 and 25 to 14.
            Preeceville's second game was against Invermay. Preeceville lost the first set 22 to 25; won the second set 25 to5 and played a third tie breaker set up to 15 points. Preeceville won the tie, 15 to 14.
            In the third game Preeceville played, the team defeated Kamsack in both sets, 25 to 23 and 25 and 19.
            In the fourth game, Preeceville defeated Sturgis in both sets 25 to 13 and 25 to 10.
            In the semi-final game, Preeceville defeated Churchbridge in both sets 25 to 9 and 25 to 15.
            In the finals against Yorkton, Preeceville lost the first set 17 to 25. Preeceville won the second set 25 to23 and in the tie breaker third set, Preeceville won 15 to 10.

            Yorkton placed second and Churchbridge placed third in the tournament.
