The Preeceville School junior girls basketball team concluded its season with a tough loss against Kamsack in conference play on February 11.

"What an amazing season with some truly talented and hardworking young athletes," said Linda Shewchuk, coach.

鈥淭heir perseverance and endurance to learn and improve daily while carrying a positive attitude on and off the court brought this team to six wins and five losses for the season.鈥

Throughout the season the team played against: Canora, Kamsack, Norquay, Sturgis, Langenburg and Sacred Heart (Yorkton.)

"Our last game for conferences this season was against Kamsack in Preeceville on February 11, which resulted in a 29 to 19 loss for us and ended our season and chance to move forward to play in districts. All good things eventually come to an end," said Shewchuk.

The season was affected somewhat by weather, as several games and tournaments were cancelled, but Shewchuk said the team enjoyed the games they were able to play.

鈥淭he road trips are always filled with plenty of laughs and it is such a pleasure to challenge ourselves as a team and individually against other athletes in the area,鈥 she stated.

鈥淭hese young ladies are a tower of strength, knowledge, hard work and it is always so awesome to hear as a coach the feedback from other coaches, referees and students on how the girls are enjoyable to watch, confident, kind and respectful.听

鈥淭he efforts of the players as a team are inspiring and we wish the older girls moving up to senior level good luck and I hope they continue to inspire, learn and provide guidance to all,鈥 concluded Shewchuk.
