Preeceville curling teams bring medals home from districts

Two Preeceville School curling teams brought medals home from the East Central District competition played in Yorkton January 27 and 28. The school鈥檚 junior mixed curling team brought home a silver medal.

Two Preeceville School curling teams brought medals home from the East Central District competition played in Yorkton January 27 and 28.

The school鈥檚 junior mixed curling team brought home a silver medal. Team members were Kolby Johannesson, Claire Giddings, Trever Geistlinger and Jillian Tonn. Donna Hamilton and Bonnie Lisitza are the coaches.

The Preeceville team defeated Sacred Heart in its first game and Saltcoats in its second game.

鈥淭he two wins sent them into a matchup against Sturgis and Preeceville was defeated in an extra end,鈥 said Hamilton.

The loss sent Preeceville into the B event where they defeated Sacred Heart and played Sturgis for the gold medal. Sturgis defeated Preeceville for the gold and Preeceville won the silver.

Other schools represented included Scared Heart, Springside, Saltcoats, Yorkton Regional, Stockholm聽 and Canora.

The junior boys curling team brought home a bronze medal from the districts. Team members are Erik Sandager, Wilien Paligan, Konnor Nenson, Mason Bilan and Anthony Ford.

Other schools represented were Yorkton Regional, Canora, Yorkdale, Norquay, Columbia School, Kamsack and Saltcoats.

Preeceville junior boys played Kamsack in the A event where they lost. The loss sent Preeceville to the B event where they defeated Norquay and Yorkdale. In the semifinal game they faced off against Kamsack and Preeceville was defeated, leaving the team with the bronze medal.
