The Preeceville Skating Arena received a Community Demonstration Grant through the Saskatchewan Scrap Tire Corporation (SSTC). The grant allowed the arena committee to replace the old rubber floor matting. More flooring is scheduled to be placed in the entry way, the main lobby area
on part of the area鈥檚 exterior entry to the ice.

The Community Demonstration Grant program was designed
to encourage Saskatchewan residents to think green
when planning their community projects. The SSTC grant
program awards eligible communities and organizations
up to a matched $5,000 towards the purchase and installation
of manufactured recycled rubber products. The grant is
available to municipalities, registered non-profi t groups or
organizations, schools, and First Nations and Metis communities,
who have incorporated an ever-growing number of
recycled tire products into their community-based projects
such as playgrounds, sports arenas and walking paths.
To date, the SSTC has awarded over 88 grants to various
community projects, and as a result, millions of tires have
been recycled and turned into reusable products, which one
can see in various communities throughout Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan Scrap Tire Corporation (SSTC) is a
non-profi t, non-government organization that is responsible
for the scrap tire management program in Saskatchewan.
The SSTC manages the collection and processing of scrap
tires for recycling and reuse, by turning the tires into useful
and marketable products; therefore, eliminating the amount
of tires disposed of in local landfi lls.
