They cleaned up. again.

For the second time this season the Clean the Clean Spot Terriers novice boys' hockey team won a finals meeting.

"Both teams gave it 110 per cent and none of the kids gave up on pushing for the MHL B division championship banner.

Once again the goalies for both teams (Dray Sobkow for Clean Spot and Landon Sorenson for Farrell Agencies) played outstanding in net," explains Clean Spot head coach Darrell Sobkow.

There was no way a Yorkton team wasn't going to win the final game on the 'B' side.

The Major Hockey League (MHL) 'B' championships came down to two hockey games.

Playing in them were the Clean Spot novices against the Farrell Agencies novices.

"This game had excitement built into it from the first puck drop," explains Trevor Herzog, trainer of the Clean Spot Terriers, who went on to win both games, by scores of 4-3 in game 1 on March 26 and 8-7 in game 2 played on March 29.

Goaltenders Sobkow and Sorenson supposedly stole the show in the first meeting of the finals.

"(They) had all the angles covered," states Herzog.

Clean Spot's Kaedin Dycer, Josh Herzog, Jack Long all scored, as Herzog scored twice in the game.

Jaspyn Campbell, Brady Bjornerud and Dru Minke tallied for the opposition.

Coach Sobkow said the game was a close one.

"Hard skating by all of the forwards and defencemen was recognized by all the coaching staff on both sides of the ice."

The second game of the series meant Farrell Agencies was going to have to win by at least two goals to win the MHL championship title.

Things started out very promising for them, recalls Sobkow of his opponents.

"Within 10 minutes of the game Farrell Agencies had tallied three goals.

Bjornerud had two and Julia Fleger had one; all came in the opening period.

"The Farrell Agencies team had the Clean Spot players back on their heels," explains Sobkow.

Josh Herzog opened the Clean Spot scoring at 6:28 of the first period with an assist by Braeden Zerff followed by a goal by Kaedin Dycer with 3:21 left to go and assists by Josh Herzog and Jack Long.

According to coach Sobkow, they continued the scoring into the second period.

"The Clean Spot Terriers had a great opening to the second period by recording three goals within seven minutes all by Herzog. The Farrell Agencies Terriers answered back with a goal of their own before the period had ended by Reid Pfiefer."

The score heading into the final frame sat at 5-4 in favour of Clean Spot.

"The third period was a wild one with three goals scored for each team," explained Sobkow via electronic mail. Each took their turn at getting a goal with the Farrell Agency team tying it up and the Clean Spot team answering back with a goal to stay one goal ahead each time. The Farrell Agencies goal scorers were Jaspyn Campbell with a pair and Minke with one. The Clean Spot goal scorers for the third period were Herzog, Dycer and Long.

"The Clean Spot kids and parents would like to congratulate all Yorkton Novice teams on playing very competitively throughout the season and we will see you all next year. We would also like to thank the Clean Spot coaching staff for creating a great hockey experience for all of the players. They all had such a great time this season that you can expect them back again next year," closes trainer Herzog.
