The 2012 Moose Jaw High School Football League has been released, and for the first time in possibly forever, that schedule will now include the orange and black of the Yorkton Regional High School Raiders.
Also a first will be a pair of Tuesday games, both afternoon starts, and both on home turf.
Roby Sharpe, head coach of the Raiders, says he's not particularly thrilled with the layout of the schedule in this, their first year in a new league, noted that it is going to be harder to manage the roster when there are fewer days in between games.
For the second time in as many years, this schedule will also include one more night game, a Friday night (Sept. 28), when the Raiders will host Moose Jaw Central.
The schedule starts on the road for the YRHS when they open up in Moose Jaw against Vanier on Sept. 9 at 3:15 p.m.
Ten days later, the Raiders host their first Moose Jaw team on the gridiron. AE Peacock comes to town for what will be the first Tuesday game in Yorkton in years. That goes on Sept. 18 and will be a 4:30 p.m., kickoff for the Raider Gridder seniors.
On Sept. 22, it is back on the road for the team, heading to Weyburn for a 2 p.m., game time, their only 2 p.m., start during the six-game regular season.
One Sept. 28, it will be the night under the lights as Yorkton hosts Moose Jaw Central at 7 p.m., at Kinsmen Century Field.
The schedule will continue into October where the Raiders will play two games, one on the 4th and wrap up the season on the 9th.
On Oct. 4, they head to Swift Current. On Oct. 9, they host Estevan in a 4 p.m., start at Century Field.
The Moose Jaw league post season is slated to begin on Oct. 13 with quarter finals. Semi finals are Oct. 20. The league championships are Oct. 27 and provincial action will be played Nov. 3 and 10.
