The Kinsmen AA Terrier hockey team made a comeback in the third period of their meeting with Weyburn on Sunday afternoon at Kinsmen Arena but fell one-goal short in a 6-5 loss.
"We played really good in the second and third periods," observed head coach Evan Johnson, acknowledging that the visiting Weyburn Petro Bakken Wings are the first place club in the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League, and "yeah, they did play like a top team," he noted.
He also pointed out that they managed to hold Weyburn's Tucker Neuberger to one goal in the game. As of press time, Neuberger is in a tie for second overall in league scoring with four goals and eight assists.
With the win, Weyburn sits tied atop the league with the Notre Dame Bantam Hounds with 10 points.
Yorkton's record slips to 1-3-2 for four points in the standings.
Johnson said despite the losses that have been coming, going back two weeks ago when they dropped road games in Swift Current and Moose Jaw, "we have a really deep team," he said.
"All games (so far) have been winnable."
We're only rolling three lines right now, he added.
They will be looking to improve on that on Friday night when they meet the Notre Dame Hounds Friday night at the Kinsmen Arena
