Local hockey players help Sask Knights win gold

Five young local hockey players recently had the opportunity to play with the AAA Sask. Knights spring hockey team which won gold in the Alberta Champions Cup held in Calgary on April 28 to 30.

Five young local hockey players recently had the opportunity to play with the AAA Sask. Knights spring hockey team which won gold in the Alberta Champions Cup held in Calgary on April 28 to 30.

Local players were Chaz Jaeb and Kaiden Masley, both of Sturgis; Zachary Sorgen and Brady Kashuba, both of Preeceville, and Thomas Hauber of Canora.

The coaches from the team were based out of Wynyard with players from Wynyard, Nipawin, Tisdale, Rose Valley, Preeceville and Sturgis.

鈥淭he spring hockey team was made up of kids from Wynyard, Nipawin, Tisdale, Rose Valley, Preeceville and Sturgis,鈥 said Wes Jaeb, a parent. 鈥淭hey went to two tournaments in April. The first one was The Rocky Mountain Classic in Jasper Alta. where they won bronze. The second tournament was the Alberta Champions Cup in Calgary where the team won gold on April 28 to 30,鈥 he said.

Masley played center, Sorgen, Jaeb and Hauber played defense and Kashuba was the goaltender for the team.
