Langenburg comeback forces a deciding SESBL game three

Parkland Pirates head east for deciding game tonight

Thanks to a come-from-behind victory by the Langenburg Legends last night it will all come down one final game in their semi -final series with the Parkland Pirates.

The Pirates took the opening game of the series 9-6 Tuesday, and were looking to wrap up the best-of-three affair last night at Jubilee Park to punch their ticket to the 麻豆传媒AV East Saskatchewan Baseball League final.

It looked the Pirates were going to do just that leading 6-5 going to the final inning.

But the Legends weren鈥檛 done. They scored three in the top of the seventh for an 8-6 lead.

鈥淭hey ended up scoring three runs,鈥 said Pirate coach Brad Haberman. 鈥淚t was a bit of sloppy defence on our part.鈥

Haberman said it was a bit unfair to Pirate pitcher Ross Stilborn in his first start if the season. He pitched well going the distance, but the team couldn鈥檛 get him the win.

Sloppy defence, or not, the three runs were all the Legends needed as they held the Pirates scoreless in their half of the seventh to force a third, and deciding game that goes tonight, (Thursday) in Langenburg.

Haberman said the teams are obviously pretty well-matched.

鈥淟angenburg is a pretty good hitting team, as are we when we鈥檙e rolling,鈥 he said, adding in the field neither team has shone through two games. 鈥淚n the field we鈥檙e struggling, both sides, with a lot of unearned runs.鈥

With tonight鈥檚 game being the third in three days it will be a challenge for both teams to find pitching, said Haberman, but it鈥檚 the same for both sides.

Awaiting the series winner is Canora, who made it to the league final taking two-straight in their semi-final match-up against Willowbrook.
