Lumsden was not kind to the Yorkton Regional High School Lady Raiders senior basketball team over the weekend.
The young and inexperienced Lady Raiders went 0-3 in the tournament, losing each game by double digits.
The Lady Raiders fell victim to a surging Shaunavon team to open the tournament.
Shaunavon scored seemingly at will, crushing the Lady Raiders by 44 points, 66-22.
The lone bright spot for the YRHS was the play of Kamsack import Tess Berezowski, who led the Lady Raiders with eight points.
A pair of 12 point losses to the Estevan Elecs and Moose Jaw Vanier seniors girls teams sealed the 0-3 record for the Lady Raiders in a weekend that head coach Jessica Schmidt feels was unsuccessful, in large part due to too many mental errors that should not be made this far into the season. "We made mental errors that just can't happen if we want to compete at the next level," said Schmidt.
Schmidt also mentioned that two of the losses came against teams that her girls know they could beat. "Both Estevan and MJ Vanier are teams that these girls know they can beat if we can learn patience and grow more confidence in pressure situations.
"With that being said, as coaches we could not ask for a better bunch of girls to spend the weekend with. They are so hard working and coachable."
