Kozak sits third at Saskatchewan Junior (U-19) Women’s Championship

Yorkton’s Ella Kozak sits third after the opening round at the Saskatchewan Junior (U-19) Women’s Championship in Moose Jaw.

Kozak shot a 76, to trail leader Brooklin Fry of Shell Lake.

Fry, who is the reigning junior trophy holder started out well Tuesday in her bid to retain that title. The 16-year-old opened the 54-hole event at the Hillcrest Golf Club with an even par, 71.

Saskatoon’s Sarah Grieve sits second posting a 75 during her first round, one shot better than Kozak, and four back of Fry.

Regina's Autumn Neiszner is sitting in fourth at 8-over par, well within the lead with two rounds to play.

Fry leads the U-17 age group as well. Kyle golfer Chloe Wills (18-over par) leads the U-15 division, Tayla Perry of Regina is the low U-13 player at 30-over par.
