Kolodziejski rink takes A event of Canora Men's Bonspiel in extra end

The Bob Kolodziejski rink won the A event final of the Canora Mens Bonspiel with a tight, back-and-forth, extra end victory over the Terry Dennis foursome on March 25.

The Bob Kolodziejski rink won the A event final of the Canora Mens Bonspiel with a tight, back-and-forth, extra end victory over the Terry Dennis foursome on March 25.

The winning rink was made up of Kolodziejski (skip), Sean Kolodziejski (third), Bryan Kolodziejski (second), and Robin Ludba (lead).

The winning team members each received an artwork print and will be the first to have their names engraved on the new Ted Palagian Memorial Plaque.

The plaque reads: “Remembering his (Ted’s) countless hours volunteering his time in our community to help make it a place we could be proud of. He had a great love and devotion to family- our youth, his beloved baseball- the game of curling and the Canora curling rink. He spent much of his time promoting our rink and believed it should be a warm and welcoming place for people of all ages to participate, meet, and enjoy.â€

The winning rink in the B event was made up of Darren Zuravloff (skip), John Zbitniff (third), Dawson Zuravloff (second), and Jordi Zbitniff (lead). The Zuravloff rink defeated the Terry Wilson foursome in the B final.

The Bob Lumley rink of Norquay won the C event, after a victory over the Zeno Gulka foursome in the final. The rink included Lumley (skip), Brian Hubic (third), Wilf Romanow (second), and Ron Perepeluk (lead).

In the D event, Don Probe’s foursome defeated the Craig Ostafie rink in the final. The winning team included Probe (skip), Peter Wiwchar (third), Darryl Stevenson (second) and Bill Gulka (lead).

All rinks were from Canora unless otherwise indicated.

A total of 11 teams took part in the bonspiel. Each foursome played three games in the preliminary round, where a Brandon Draw points scoring system was used to determine the team standings. In the event finals, first place played second place in the A event, third played fourth in the B event, and so on.
