Kelvington trailblazers rally attracts 234 riders

The Kelvington Trailblazers hosted its 31st annual snowmobile rally on February 4 when 234 riders attended.

            The Kelvington Trailblazers hosted its 31st annual snowmobile rally on February 4 when 234 riders attended.

            "The weather was great for snowmobling and we had 234 riders registered," said Judy Lillebo, secretary and treasurer for the Kelvington Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. "The men's club served 200 plates of pancakes for the breakfast and approximately 325 people attended the supper and social.â€

            Riders in attendance came from Regina, Saskatoon, Yorkton and from the surrounding area.

            A pancake breakfast kicked off the event, which was followed by a supper after riders returned to the hall. There were numerous bucket draws throughout the evening.

            Dale Romanus was the big winner of the 2017 Polaris Indy snowmobile raffle. Mitch Seminuk won the rider only prize of a $1,500 travel voucher. Ken Campbell won the helmet valued at $600.

            The top three winning hands were held by: Dave Jaudaur, who received $1,000; Adam Carlson, $250, and Rhonda Murrison, $150.

            The riders from the farthest distance were Dallas, Roger and Milly Lafant of Okotoks, Alta. The oldest snowmobile, a 1978 Ski-Doo owned by Brian Baerg. The oldest male rider was Jim Hendron, and the oldest female rider was Verla Campbell.

            Kelly Minky won the most hands with 140 hands and Ted Comfort won the second-highest hands with 120 hands. The rider carrying the top hands was Dave Jaudaur.
