Kee's TKD represented in Brazil, Korea

Susanne Mitchell is among those at Kee's Tae Kwon Do in Yorkton who are, or who are going to be, training or competing at various parts of the globe. Mitchell herself, is currently on her way home from the 5th Annual CISM Military World Games. She was there from July 16-24, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was participating as an international referee.

In 1948, CISM was formed in Nice, France, amongst discussion of its five founding nations - Belgium, Denmark, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Canada and the Canadian Forces became a member of CISM in 1985, and has been extremely active as both participants and with leadership involvement within the organization.

CISM annually organizes over 20 Military World Championships for different sports, along with many continental and regional championships, in which all member nations can participate in. In addition, since the inaugural games in Rome, Italy, in 1995, CISM organizes the Military World Games every four years, which is a multisport game with about 6,000 participants from 100 member nations participating.

This year's Military World Games are also called the "Peace Games," a name which celebrates the role of the Games in promoting the CISM motto of "Friendship through Sport". The 2011 Military World Games will build peace and friendship by bringing together over 6 000 military athletes, coaches and support staff from over 100 countries. They are the fifth CISM Military World Games to be held, and are expected to be one of the largest and most successful yet.

CISM hosts Military World Games every four years, always scheduled one year before the Olympic Summer Games.

The Military World Games are the third largest sporting event in the world. Throughout 10 days of competition, the Military World Games will feature a unique collection of competitions in 20 sports, which fall into five categories: individual, collective, demonstration, military and combat sports.

Other members of Kee's who will be in action shortly are Francis Bazin, whom Master Wayne Mitchell of Kee's, said will be participating at the Junior Pan-Am team trials in Toronto July 30-31. Master will be his coach. The winner of this event will represent the country at the Junior Pan-Am Championships.

There will be five participants going to the 3rd World Youth Camp in Korea, including Susanne Mitchell (as a coach), Sue Lohnes (as a trainer), Shane Varjassy, Samuel Lohnes and Kathryn Lohnes (youth athletes).

They will visit the project called the Tae Kwon Do Promotion Foundation Park. (www.tpf.kr). This will be an extremely exciting cultural experience for all five participants. They will leave for Korea on July 29 and return on Aug. 6
