聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Players of the four Kamsack Minor Hockey teams for the 2017-18 season were introduced and applauded during the annual windup banquet held at the Broda Sportsplex mezzanine on March 23.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Mike Eliuk, as president of Kamsack Minor Hockey Association, welcomed everyone and introduced the other members of the executive and the young local players who served as referees during the season.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Members of the executive with Eliuk are: Jeremy Allard, Andrea Marsh, Julie Gareau, Shanley Allard, Joscelyn Symak, Desiree Lorenzo, Shawn Lawless and Hillary Walter.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The local referees were: Robbie Grieve, Justus Blackwood, Levi Erhardt, Shilo Blackwood-Eliuk, Ethen Krawetz, Cameron Allard, Nicholas Bielecki and Sadie, Curtis and Zac McGriskin.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Eliuk acknowledged the Iron Grill for catering the meal and invited parents to attend the annual general meeting being held next month.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e need parents鈥� input to make minor hockey better for the kids and for us,鈥� Eliuk said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 He urged parents to consider registering their children for a hockey camp being held this spring with half of the cost being paid by the Association.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Tyler Lorenzo, coach of the IP team, introduced his fellow coaches Lee Symak, Jared Ruf and Ethen Krawetz and said that the children had improved a lot and they were all good sports.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 He presented medals to three members of the team who will be moving up to novice level next year: Nathaniel Shabatoski, the most improved player on the team; Carson Chernoff, the most dedicated player, and Sophia Walter, the player with the best sportsmanship.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jeremy Allard, coach of the novice team, introduced his assistant coaches Gerard Kiefer, Shawn Lawless and Jeff Smandych and then named Ryden Moccasin as the most improved player; Gage Kiefer, the most sportsmanlike player, and Rhys Lawless, the most dedicated player.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Introducing his assistants Ryan Gareau and Dereck Shankowsky, Allard, coach of the atoms, said that 鈥渢here鈥檚 lots of potential here鈥� and then named Andy Chan as the most sportsmanlike player; Jackson Gareau, the most improved player, and Bobby and Brooke Taylor, twins who shared the medal for being the team鈥檚 most dedicated players.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 When the peewee team was introduced, Donna Krawetz thanked the team鈥檚 helpers and then Mike Eliuk, who with Gord Thomas, coaches the team, introduced Declan Kosokowsky as the most improved player; Ty Thomas, most dedicated, and Germain Keshane, the most sportsmanlike player.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Eliuk announced that a hockey school with Derrick Serdachny of Preeceville as the instructor would be held on the weekend (March 23 and 24) and about 30 players had already registered.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The annual general meeting is being held next month, he said.
