After Gus Wolos passed away in 2004. His family decided to honour his involvement in the community by supporting sports or other events, and by organizing the first Gus Wolos Memorial Golf Tournament in 2005. Since then it has become an annual event.

A memorial fund was established by the family where any funds raised at the golf tournaments are donated back to the community.

Prior to July 1, a shelter was constructed between the green of Hole #6 and the tee-off of Hole No. 7. This shelter has been named "The Gus Stop" in his honour.

Previous donations have included: money toward the Chase Kraynick Memorial Splash Park, umbrellas for the swimming pool, blinds for the United Church, skating trainers for kids learning to skate and a donation to the Lions Club

Fundraising items included a silent auction, a raffle table and the main prize draw known as the 鈥淕iver Go Package.鈥

The family said the next planned purchase from the memorial fund is a golf cart in honour of Gus Wolos for use at the Canora Golf Course.
