Hundreds of martial arts enthusiasts filled the Flexihall in the Gallagher on Apr. 28 for 2018 Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge. The day-long event was open to people from a wide range of ages and experience-levels.

Hundreds of martial arts enthusiasts filled the Flexihall in the Gallagher on Apr. 28 for 2018 Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge.

The day-long event was open to people from a wide range of ages and experience-levels. Participants came from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta, representing clubs such as Kees Taekwondo, Iron Fist Martial Arts, and North Battleford Taekwondo Academy.

Dozens of medals were dished out for the various winners in different divisions.

First-place Yorkton winners included: Aften Chopik (Pee Wee Female Beginners Poomsae and Mitey Mite Female Beginner Light), Corbin Shauf (Cadet Male Poomsae Taegeuk 2 and Cadet Male Intermediate Welter), Brandon Novak (Cadet Male Taegeuk 8 and Cadet Male Advanced Heavy), Tayah Yanke (Junior Female Taegeuk 8), Kallie Buenneke (Family Team Poomsae - Black Belt and Black Belt Adult Female), Zane Chopik (Black Belt Cadet Male Light), Shane Varjassy (Black Belt Senior Male Heavy), Ty Shauf (Pee Wee Male Beginner Middle), Dominic White (Cadet Male Beginner Heavy), and Munroe Joyea (Mitey Mite Male Beginner Middle).
Kallie Beunneke, representing Kees Taekwondo, also scored the special award for Best Adult Female.
