Skate Yorkton presented their annual ice carnival over the weekend, bringing an end to the local skating club's season.

A big part of the carnival was skating pairs Anabelle Langois and Cody Hay, who also put on a seminar the day before the carnival.

Langlois said the seminars they did are something they have been doing "for years" and it's something they've come to appreciate being able to do.

The petite blonde talked about her experience in the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games as well as the Salt Lake City Games in 2002.

She also has been on the TV Sunday afternoons on the CBC's Battle of the Blades, but declines to compare the two.

"It is like apples and oranges," she told the paper, smiling.

"I worked my whole life to get to Vancouver."

Over the weekend was her first time in Yorkton, along with Hay, and they heard about it when the Skate Yorkton club's head coach Susan Nagy asked her to help out.

Despite having been on the TV set and her supermodel good looks, she admits that "a lot of people recognize me" and she doesn't mind it.

Her skating partner Hay added that his partner likely gets noticed "more than I do!"

Langois notes that part of seminars such as Yorkton's involves her answering questions.

"There's all sorts of questions about pretty much everything," she said, still smiling.

She and Hay took the ice twice that day, the second of which was a huge crowd pleaser, being a country number.

Both Langois and Hay have retired from competitive skating and have since entered into the world of coaching skating.

Among the highlights of this year's Yorkton show were Nicki Nagy, solo performances by Braida LeNouail, Koen Kucher-Paulmark, Carolyn Hauser and Raegan Exner.
