The Deer Park Golf Course officially opened up their driving range on Monday, May 6.
The course, however, isn't ready yet. They hope to open up at least nine holes by early next week.
There will be a registration night for junior golf lessons from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at the Deer Park Country Club. The lesson package includes two hours of instruction, five nine-hole rounds of golf, and a skills competition on June 2. All lessons are taught by a CPGA Certified Teaching Professional. The age groups start at 6-years-old and go to 14-years-old and up.
The golf course has made some changes to their power cart storage regulations. Here is a look at the press release of the changes.
Beginning in 2013, no new power carts will be stored at Deer park.
No new carts means that only those power cart owners who stored a cart at the course in 2012 can store a power cart in 2013.
Cart owners who stored a cart at the course in 2012 can replace their existing cart with a new one provided they do so by December 31, 2013.
If a cart owner decides to leave they have the following options:
A) Take their cart
B) Provided the City needs to add to the cart fleet - Negotiate the trade in value of their cart on a new fleet cart at which point the City will pay them the trade in value.
The City will then have the option of placing the existing cart in the fleet or completing the trade in and placing the new cart in the fleet.
Someone who stored a cart in 2012 can transfer it to his or her spouse at any time.
If two people, who had joint ownership of a cart and stored it in 2012, decide the partnership no longer works - they must decide which partner will have the right to store a cart going forward.
If someone, who has been a long term member of the course, did not have a membership and did not store their cart in 2012 due to a serious medical condition or issue Council may make an exception and authorize cart storage.
