This week I'm back looking at discs from Latitude 64, a company out of Sweden which has some fine offerings including the Halo, Vision and Fuse which were reviewed in this space back in August.

Those tested discs were made of Latitude 64's Gold Line, one of four plastics options from the company.

The Havoc and River being reviewed this week are made from the Opto Line of plastics, a translucent mix which gives the discs a jelly-look where you can actually see through the opaque top of the discs. It's a rather cool look.

The River is a control driver, a disc which is a good option for beginners.

The company website suggests the River is just a solid, all-around driver offering, stating the "River has taken the market by storm and is a disc with 'The Glide'. It´s easy to throw and fits most player's power and skill levels. River is a fairway control driver and while it´s not the fastest disc we have made, and doesn't have the widest wing ever made, it is a disc for accurate driving and good control. With small fade and amazing glide, you can really let it fly."

The thinner edge (wing) on the River is a bit of a short-coming for me. I simply find a 'chunkier' edge easier to grip. That said, the River does throw quite well.

The Havoc disc is a superfast overstable long distance driver.

It has the thicker edge which gives it an ideal 'feel' in my hands. That chunkier edge helps ensure a solid grip, and that helps you generate the speed in the throw which you will want with the Havoc.

"Havoc is a high speed driver that will give you the distance you need on the course," states the website. "It flies very fast and seems to never slow down. It´s quite easy to throw and will fit advanced and pro players."

The Havoc is an easy-throwing disc, but with the potential for pro-level performance it is a disc which can grow with the player. That makes the Havoc a solid investment as it will remain a viable option in your disc bag for a very long time.

Well disc golf fans, that's it for this review until the snows leave Patrick Park Disc Golf Course in Yorkton, so watch for the return in April, when I'll offer more reviews of discs from leading manufacturers from around the world.

Maybe I'll see you on the course in the spring of 2012.
