Chuckwagon and chariot races were the highlight of the Preeceville Lions Club Western Weekend on July 10 to 12. The races were threatened by a few rain clouds but avid fans waited through the rain to watch the races.
There were 39 chariots entered in the three days of races that saw Casey Peter-son of Kelvington win the top prize. Curtis Longman of Kelvington finished second and Wayne Salmond of Weekes finished in the third spot. Other racers were: Jason Olafson, Calvin Longman, Tim Gausman, Jarod Prouse, Jim Jedicka, Crystal Drrechsler, Norman Sinclair, Randy Lobb, Reiser Knutson, Heidi Leach, Colleen Galloway, Bryce Young, Larry Wickstrom, Raelynn Knudson, Jim Jedica, Stephen Prodaehi, Casey Peterson, Rylan By, Kelvin Young, Bert Buhler, Shane Hue, Cody Leach, Cody Pegg, Brooke Classen, Jessie Buhler, Walter Longmna, Colin Kilborn, Twyla Salmond, Buddy Prouse, Colt Peterson, Tyler Salmond, Carol Hooge, Curtis Longman and Wayne Salmond.
There were 38 entries in the chuckwagon races and Carol Hooge of Porcupine Plain won top spot over three days of racing. Colt Peterson of Kelvington placed second overall and Larry Salmond of Hudson Bay won third place overall.
